Melanie Kidd
A stop-motion animator, fabricator, and aspiring director with a passion for storytelling through character, craft, and material. With a BA in Media Arts and an MFA in 2D Animation: Storyboarding, Melanie brings a strong visual narrative foundation to every project she takes on. Her work comes to life through a wide range of materials—from wood and cardboard to industrial foam, textiles, and Pal Tiya—allowing her to build characters and worlds that are both imaginative and tactile. Stop-motion is where Melanie’s love for design, sculpture, and storytelling truly converge, giving her the opportunity to animate by hand and infuse every frame with personality and emotion. She is constantly learning new techniques and exploring new trades to grow as a multidisciplinary artist, all with the goal of one day directing her own stories from concept to screen. At the heart of everything Melanie creates is a commitment to expressive storytelling, inventive thinking, and boundless joyful imagination.
